Information about temporary surcharge due to conflict in Swedish ports

Published 4 juli 2025

A conflict has been ongoing for an extended period in Swedish ports where the Swedish Dockworkers Union is represented. This conflict, which has included both strikes and lockouts, has led to significantly increased production costs for our service. This is a situation beyond our control, force majeure, and has necessitated the introduction of a temporary surcharge corresponding to 20% of the total freight cost.

We can now remove this surcharge/strike fee from shipments as of Wednesday, July 9th.

We still have a backlog that we are working intensively to clear, as well as repositioning our trailers to be able to operate according to our regular setup.

Currently, there are no strike or blockade notices known to us. Should this change, we may be forced to reintroduce this surcharge.

All special or customer-unique solutions that need to be developed due to the current situation – such as altered routes – will be analysed and costed individually based on the specific setup.

We are working proactively to minimise disruptions and maintain a close, continuous dialogue with you. Each situation is assessed individually, and we take the necessary measures to find the best possible solution.

If you have any questions about how this affects your shipments, you are welcome to contact your regular NTEX representative.

Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued trust.

Best Regards
NTEX Limited
