Information on Additional Charges Due to Port Conflict and Further Strike Notices

Published 27 maj 2025

The ongoing conflict in Swedish ports continues, with strikes and lockouts in the ports where the Swedish Dockworkers Union is represented. This is a situation beyond our control, i.e., a force majeure.

We note that the conflict has so far resulted in significantly increased production costs for us. Unfortunately, this means we need to introduce an additional charge for all transports to/from the United Kingdom, Ireland and Sweden, Norway, Finland.

This additional charge will be 20% of the total freight cost and will apply from Wednesday, May 28, until further notice (and may be adjusted under changed conditions). Please note that this applies when we ship according to our regular setup. All special and unique customer solutions that arise due to the strike, i.e., route changes, will continue to be analysed individually and costed based on the specific setup.
During week 22, ferry traffic is expected to largely return to regular sailing schedules. However, the conflict has caused significant backlogs that now need to be addressed, which may affect our service level and lead times.

Planned strike and lockout periods:
Gothenburg RoRo Terminal
June 1, 16:00 – June 2, 23:00
June 3, 06:00 – 23:00
June 9, 00:00 – 24:00
APM Terminals Gothenburg
June 2, 06:00 – 23:00

Swedish Ports has received another strike and blockade notice from the Swedish Dockworkers Union (HF). The notice means that HF is once again expanding its industrial actions.

The notice concerns an overtime, hiring, and new employment blockade, as well as a blockade against additional hours and shifting of regular working hours (FA time), directed at all member companies of Swedish Ports from Friday, June 6, 00:00 to Sunday, June 8, 24:00.

We continue to assess that the greatest impact will be on transports via the Port of Gothenburg, both import and export. There is a significant risk that trailers will be left standing in the ports during these periods, which can lead to increased costs such as quay and trailer rental as well as empty returns when return transports cannot be carried out as planned.

Other extraordinary costs arising in connection with this – including, but not limited to, quay and trailer rental, delays, and transshipments – will unfortunately need to be invoiced to you as the customer.
We are working proactively to minimize disruptions and maintain a close and continuous dialogue with you. Each individual situation is assessed separately, and we take the necessary actions to find the best possible solution.
If you have any questions about how this affects your transports, please contact your regular contact person at NTEX.

Thank you for your understanding and continued trust.
