Ongoing strike and lockout in Swedish ports Customer Update

Published 23 maj 2025

The ongoing conflict in Swedish ports continues, with strikes and lockouts in the ports where the Swedish Dockworkers Union is represented.

The first phase of the strike will end on Monday, May 26 at 10:30 PM.

During week 22, ferry departures are expected to largely return to their regular sailing schedules. However, the conflict has caused backlogs that we now need to manage and plan for, which may affect our service level and lead times to you as a customer.

Strike and lockout schedule for:
Gothenburg RoRo Terminal
June 1 at 4:00 PM – June 2 at 11:00 PM
June 3 at 6:00 AM – 11:00 PM

APM Terminals Gothenburg
June 2 at 6:00 AM – 11:00 PM

We assess that the greatest impact will be on transports via the Port of Gothenburg, both import and export. There is a significant risk that trailers will be left standing in the ports during the strike and lockout periods, which may result in increased costs such as quay and trailer rental as well as empty runs when return transports cannot be carried out according to the planned flow.

All additional costs arising in connection with this – including but not limited to quay and trailer rental, empty runs, delay costs, and transshipments – will unfortunately need to be invoiced to you as the customer.

We are working proactively to minimise disruptions and maintain close and continuous dialogue with you. Each individual situation is assessed separately, and we are taking necessary measures to find the best possible solution.

We are closely monitoring developments and continuously evaluating alternative transport solutions. If you have questions about how this affects your transports, please feel free to contact your regular contact person at NTEX.

Thank you for your understanding and continued trust.
